IRI Consultants to Management integrates mohoClassifier technology in Issue Identification and Improvement Diagnostic
Detroit, Michigan (Nov. 21, 2002) -Mohomine, Inc., a leading provider of text processing automation software, today announced that its classifier product, mohoClassifier v2.4, has been licensed by IRI Consultants to Management (IRI). IRI will use the classifier to enhance its Issue Identification and Improvement (I3) Diagnostic, used by companies to assess management issues and improve employee/organizational performance and relations.

IRI's I3 proprietary diagnostic is the foundation of the consulting firm's qualitative research process to assess human and organizational performance. The MohoClassifier software is being integrated into I3 to help IRI drive down the costs of processing research data, improve the turnaround time on reports, and generally aid in defining issues to be addressed promptly, before they become management crises for companies. The mohoClassifier software will vastly improve the amount of data that can be sorted per man-hour, while maintaining the accuracy and consistency of categorization that IRI has perfected in its 23-year history.

IRI looks at the restraining forces and drivers of opportunities confronting companies by taking verbatim comments from employees through a qualitative research questionnaire and focus group process. These thousands of comments are then manually sorted into 14 key categories and an additional four levels of depth. Typically the amount of data that can be reviewed and categorized manually by one person in one hour is approximately 100 short comments, with an accuracy rate of 97 percent. In comparison, Mohomine's software can process over 500,000 comments of 10k each in that same timeframe, with comparable accuracy.

Tom Wydra, CTO of IRI said, "Because the mohoClassifier software recognizes the commonality of patterns instead of looking at an exact match of words, it is able to assess and sort the comments very quickly, saving us an immense number of man-hours. Integrating our taxonomy database and Mohomine's machine learning has been a walk in the park."

According to Wydra, the software automatically recognizes the taxonomy, and can help IRI to identify areas that need to be more specific. This enables a quick re-categorization, if necessary, to fine-tune the data - a process that would have been cost-prohibitive if done manually - and results in even better and more useful information in their reports to clients. Based on the easy and rapid integration, IRI expects to deploy the software within just a few months. Industries serviced by IRI's I3 Diagnostic include the health care, manufacturing, financial, insurance, retail operations, communications and utilities industries.

Sameer Samat, CTO of Mohomine, commented, "IRI has worked many years to develop the expertise to categorize accurately employee comments about their workplace and now has a taxonomy database of over 500,000 comment types. The mohoClassifier is able to make use of the company's domain expertise to automate the categorization of this unstructured data, shortening the training and processing time for analysts. The software converts unstructured text into actionable intelligence, resulting in reduced costs and improved efficiencies. Usage in this application also validates the myriad number of ways the software can be used."
